Scraps & ReUse

Our waste and pollution as a species gnaws on my heart and mind daily. I cannot believe what we’ve come to with single-use packaging and trash. A lot has been said about it, but it doesn’t seem like anywhere near enough is being done about it.

One aspect of my art is being a testament to the circular (reuse) economy. Much of the material I use to create my tangram art pieces comes from leftover wood, paint and scrap from larger client works that I’ve done. It’s a little more labor intensive, saving scrap and finding pieces the right size, but it’s rewarding to make things of beauty from stuff that could have just been a bigger heap in the landfill.
